QUEENSRŸCHE's MICHAEL WILTON Would Choose DONALD TRUMP Over HILLARY CLINTON As 'Leader Of The World'
August 2, 2016QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Michael Wilton says that controversial Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is his forced choice in the upcoming election.
Asked by SMNNews in a new interview whom he would choose between Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton if the presidential election were held today, Wilton said (see video below): "You know, I'm kind of disappointed in both of 'em, but if I had to choose the leader of the world, I think I'd probably want Trump."
QUEENSRŸCHE singer Todd La Torre recently spoke to East Valley Tribune about the political themes covered in some of the songs on the band's latest album, 2015's "Condition Hüman". He said: "'Guardian' was a song where I envisioned a guy being hunted by his government. Also, I thought about the enormous amount of money spent on military defense. Honestly, do we really need more weapons? From there, I just kind of tied the two together in my imagination. In many ways, it isn't any more 'scathing' than a song like 'Speak' ['Operation: Mindcrime'] with the lyric, 'Educate the masses, we'll burn the White House down.'"
He continued: "I've read that some people see 'Guardian' as being [a critique] against law enforcement. It's about as 'real' as the fictional story of 'Operation: Mindcrime'. [The lyric] 'Arming police like the military, it's obscene' came to me after seeing news footage (of the unrest) in Ferguson, Missouri. Sure, I suppose I could have said 'extreme' to describe it. But you know what? No, it is obscene."
"Condition Hüman" debuted at No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart, having shifted 14,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 8, 2015.
QUEENSRŸCHE will enter the studio in January 2017 to begin work on the follow-up to "Condition Hüman".
